At least she put enough thought in it to say trite..instead of like.. it sucks.. there's always a silver lining :) besides anything that comes from the heart doesn't suck/isn't trite lol

It's wierd... what's the deal with so many people on livejournal being, for one thing, excessively anxstful and feel-my-pain artsy, and fo ranother thing, being so critical of people who don't fit their distorted standards?

notice that?
there's a lot of people, form wha tI can tell, who use livejournal as a method of self-expression. That, in itself is fine, except that anyone who is unable to express themselves in real life, thus needing to use the captive audience of livejournal, is probably not going to have a very broad or even very interesting outlook on life. In short, people are expressing their own self-centeredness.

I'm not accusing you of this, or saying that I ma exempt... I dont read your journal so I don't know. But the whole trite acusation struck me. I mean, can't people jus tlighten up and, as the Beatles said, "realize that life goes on within you and without you."... is that quote trite. yes it is. But it's damn true.

I write poetry too btw, though I haven't read any of yours. I cna't judge if it is trite or not.

But consider this. It came to be considered, around the turn of the century, that tonal, pretty sounding music was trite. As a reseult, there was a massive overhaul of the art music world and atonality, indeterminacy, and all sorts of other styles of music came into fasion. Fine.. But does anyone listen to modern music for pleasure? no. it sounds awful. People tend to listen to everythign up through the late romantic (for pleasure.. ie not hard-core musicians and music majors) but they stop there. The very not-trite modern music is abhorred by the public.

Do you write trite poertry? more power to you. In this day and age we need a little more triteness and a little less insencerity. Make it simple. make it from the heart.

And if some people are too good for it, then let them enjoy their menaingless drivel, in all it's wonderfully innovatinve artistic glory.

that's all I have to say.

and it was very well said.

as for my poetry.. you are welcome to read it.

http://www.students.uiuc.edu/~yardley/poetry/

as for triteness... i assume that she knows the definition and thinks my poems are cliche or unmoving. more power to her.

i do think you hit the nail on the head though... she is "chick".. wants to be "artsy".. wants to be included.. accepted... wants to be "in".

her arguments and reasons for what she says reminds me of gay bashers. statements out of ignorance and closemindedness (one tract path) that further exemplify their own ignorance.

when i first ran across her journal, it intrigued me. after a while, it bored me. i hadnt read her entries in several weeks until someone pointed out that she wrote one about me.

oh well though. no hard feelings. she is who she is. that is life.

i just read that exchange between you two ... wow. i just hope you don't take what she said personally. those that really know you would never think or say the things she said ... and that's important. keep up the good *lick*ing!

Angst? Where?!

I find that my Livejournal is neat little deposit box for angst. I can whine and throw tantrums and be a complete child in my journal, and technically, do none of those things. I don't much care what other people have to say about it (mostly cause no one reads it. . .:P) But nah. I have no problem with trite poetry (I write terrible, overpretentious stories, and draw cheap lil anime people, yay!), and I have this theory that if its from the heart, if it means something to at least one person, even if he's the person who wrote it, then it just can't be trite.

Prt, prt!

Haha. Good. Don't care. Rainer Maria Rilke: "Nothing touches a work of art so little as words of criticism."

It seems you cared enough to coment about it. One may interpret that as total insecurity, you need some support from those you know will back you...

Which isn't to say there aren't other motivations for postings such as this, but it looks to me as though her comments do bother you... and you're looking for some kind of boost.

She definatly sounds like a *stuck up* and I'm all sure we know that type...life would be so much better without their shit. Sometimes regardless of what a person thinks..no one cares..so why share the shit. I dunno If i'm making an sense...but girls with that type of attitude bug the shit outta me.
